  • How to make Colored powder : Holi powder : Throwing powder

    2019-03-13

  • FAQ : Short Version : How to make Colored powder : Holi powder :

    2019-03-13

Long Version : I used my powder in this video: Questions:Powder FAQ.1. How hot is the oven? 50 Degrees or as low as your oven can go with the door left slightly open.2. How to get the powder to stick? It will stick a little dry but you will need a lot of it. I found my best results where on to wet surfaces.3. How long does it take to dry? It took me about 12-24 hours in a bowl to dry the powder enough to put in the oven. To speed up the process you can put the wet powder on a backing tray to speed it up.4. Does it have to be icing gell? No it can be any type of food colouring and another way of adding the colouring in, is by pre colouring the water before adding it to the corn starch. 20 drops of colours is good for every pound.5. I can’t get corn starch? Corn starch can be found in most big super markets and can be called potato flour, Corn flour, arrowroot flour or even gewgaw.6. How can I clean it off? From what I’m aware of the colour will stain clothes and will be a pain to get off but it should fade. As for getting it off grass, walls and concrete just lots of water and it comes right off.7. Do you need to bake it? No I put it in the oven to make sure I get 100% of the moisture out of it. Meaning that if you live in a very hot and not humid climate you can put it out side to dry and it should be fine.8. Can I put it in the microwave? I would saw no as a microwave just vibrates the water molecules inside and will not actually let the moister out of the powder.9. What happens if you get it in your eyes? Rinse your eyes out with lots of water and you should be fine.10. What happens if you inhale the powder? It’s not good for you at all but it’s no immediately deadly. If you inhale quite a bit of it go to a doctor as soon as possible as it can create lung irritation and induce pleural effusion in extreme cases.11. Cheapest place to get corn starch? So for the cheapest I have been told about is in ALDI which is 60p for 500g.12. How much powder did you make for you video? I made a total of 3kg of powder.13. Can us just normal flour? It can work as that’s how it is sometimes traditionally made but it’s a totally different process.14.What is Holi? I use a dehydrator? Yes you can it takes about 6 hours.16. Can I use baby powder? Well with baby powder it will defiantly work if you just want white. However i don’t think it has the right properties but I could be wrong… However baby powder is actually slightly toxic…. So I would not recommend using it. Effects faq for the home made holly powder video store17. How can I shoot the powder out? You can use a co2 canon or a modified paintball gun.
